New EP from the Paris-based DJ crew and label, MWB 001 Remixes features remixes by Traumer, Lurka, Tim Karbon and Mawimbi. It will be available digitally on the 15th of January and a release party will take place in Paris at Gaite Lyrique on the 29th of January. These remixes offer unusual and somewhat darker reinterpretations of tracks from the first compilation that appeared on the label, displaying a strong taste for a modern, versatile techno sound.
"Agama" from Mawimbi signees Umeme Afrorave is remixed in a "big room" fashion with powerful dubby chords and UK Funky influenced rhythms, while Traumer delves deeper into the bewitching powers of african drums, delivering a massive remix of "Sogoni Kalimba" by 10 Foot Ballerina. A member of the ever-growing Vox Populi label, the young Tim Karbon turns "Afrikan Beat 2.0" by Jenovah into a mystic journey full of delays and subtle distortion effects. Finally, Bristol-based producer and Black Acre-signee Lurka expands his own unique brand of polyrhythmic and esoteric bass music with a totally revamped version of "Ketjak" by Loâzo.
